The Swim Squad program at Stromlo Leisure Centre supports all swimmers to train to their individual potential and maximise their enjoyment of the sport, whether swimming for fun, personal health goals and other aquatic activities including Open Water Swimming and Water Polo. Competitive swimming is a challenging and exciting element of swimming, supporting a range of physical, mental and emotional health benefits.
Swim Squad Levels:
- Developmental Squads
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
Swimmers will be assessed prior to being placed into a Squad group to ensure they are working to a level appropriate to their abilities and goals. All swimmers will be assessed continuously to progress levels if needed.
Woden Walley Swim Club
Our club provides opportunities for families to come together in a healthy environment around the sport of swimming to compete, train and have fun. The club has a proud history of participating in the sport of swimming and we have a strong competitive focus.
Our swimmers range in ability from pre-competitive swimmers through to swimmers who have achieved national and international time standards. We have produced swimmers who have competed at levels including the Olympics and Paralympics.
Woden Waves Water Polo Club
Woden Waves Water Polo Club was established in June 2020 when Stromlo Leisure Centre opened. Woden Waves’ purpose is to serve the Woden, Weston and Molonglo regions of Canberra by providing quality programs to produce skilful players who love the sport of Water Polo.
Woden Waves Water Polo Club calls Stromlo Leisure Centre home and runs programs year-round for children 7 years and older and social adult teams. Our coaches have extensive experience, having played and coached at state, national, and international levels.
