Managing the flow of patrons under Covid-19 patron restrictions has required The Y to introduce a booking system. This booking system allows patrons, to book up to three days ahead, and allows the flexibility to change and/or cancel your booking if you are a member. Why Does the 50 Metre Pool Change to 25 Metre on Occasions?

Depending on community demand from our swim squads, water polo and triathlon bookings, the 50 Metre can be converted to two 25 Metre pools separated by a floating boom. This generally will be converted once a day. This conversion allows for bookings at one end of the pool, whilst still permitting swimmers to use the other end of the pool.

What is the Length and Temperature of Pools at the Centre?

We have a two indoor pools at SLC, a 50 Metre Competition Pool, which is heated at 27 degrees and serves lap swimmers, swim squads, and coaching programs for the sports of triathlon and water polo. The Program Pool is 20 metres long and heated at 31.5 degrees. It serves our Learn to Swim program, and those who prefer a warmer temperature.

Will there be more exercise and/or group fitness classes added to the gym program?

As we continue to fine tune our schedule and recruit more staff, we plan to add more classes to meet community demand.

How do I learn more about the correct use of exercise equipment?

As part of membership privileges, you are entitled to one free induction. You may enquire and/or book at reception or with a staff member on site.

When will more Learn to Swim (LTS) Classes become available?

We are currently managing a high volume of interest in our LTS classes. We continue to add new LTS classes when possible, and work down the LTS waitlist, as we do.
